Changing an Adults name by Deed poll.

Before continuing  with your application you will need to check whether you are eligible to apply for a Deed poll. In order to apply you must be 18 years of age or over and be a resident of the United Kingdom either living in the UK or abroad.  However if you are not a resident of the United Kingdom you may still apply to change your name by Deed poll as long as you are residing in the UK at present.

Changing a Childs name by Deed poll

Under the age of 16 a Childs name can also be changed by Deed poll as long as a written letter of consent from both parents ( or if the parents are not married, the parent  with legal custody of the child) is obtained before application. A child (under 16) does NOT need to give their consent in order for their parents to be able to change their name.

Written consent however WILL also need to be obtained from any child over the age of 16 but still under the age of 18 as parents are not allowed to change their names without their consent.
